Description
Shows mobile cookers, used to provide World War I troops with warm food in the extreme cold, winter 1917, at Hill Top Farm, Belgium. Men wearing Tam O' Shanters are the 17th Highland Light Infantry battalion cooks. The dominant red-brown colour of the work implies muddy surroundings. Ypres can be seen in the background.
